With the filter moved farther out on the tube helped reduce the
blowing over a bottle top note considerably ... stopped it from making me cringe! At certain times though, that nasty note would try to sneak back in (not quite WOT). So, I pulled everything off and flanged the filter end of the tube (left photo) so that the filter would actually mount on the end. previously with it tapered in ... tightening of the clamp too close to the end would squeeze the filter right off. I also rounded the sharp edges some on both ends. Also, the rubber elbow had flappers inside from rough molding cast areas that I shaved off. It certainly seems to have cut that bottle note considerably more ... dare I say eliminated that bad note!? |
